Kamil Khan brought honour, respect and Islam to Sydney Cricket Ground!
Kamil Khan as a cricket lover and enthusiast always strives for ways to enjoy the game and enable others to become a part of it. This time he has done what was not initiated and achieved before by taking the Muslim community with pride and honour to one of the iconic cricket grounds in the world ‘Sydney Cricket Ground’.
It was a matter of great pride for the Muslim community in Australia that someone from them led the way and helped open the doors of SCG for the first time and organised such a successful event celebrating Eid. It was also the first time that verses of Adhan (Urdu word Azaan – a way to invite Muslims to pray five times a day) was called-in there in presence of the attendees. Later, joined in offering prayers there.
Friends and families were invited by Kamil Khan and his wife Mahwish Khan to join in from all walks of life including; special guests and Legends like Waqar Younas, Brett Lee, Sonny Bill Williams, Stuart MacGill, Excellency Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri – High Commissioner of Pakistan, Honourable Consul General Mohammad Ashraf, Honourable Deputy Consul General Sheryar Khan Mandokhel, Nick Hockley – CEO Cricket Australia and many dignitaries.
In the end, Mr. Khan announced to take this auspicious event to another level and make it a regular annual celebration.
