THE HON ALEX HAWKE MP MINISTER FOR IMMIGRATION, CITIZENSHIP, MIGRANT SERVICES AND MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS MESSAGE FOR EID AL-ADHA

THE HON ALEX HAWKE MP

MINISTER FOR IMMIGRATION, CITIZENSHIP, MIGRANT SERVICES AND MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS

MESSAGE FOR EID AL-ADHA

I send my best wishes to all Australians celebrating Eid al-Adha, the holy festival of sacrifice, during Dhu’l Hijjah.

At this time of reflection, generosity and renewal of faith, I thank the Muslim Australian community for the sacrifices you have made and for your continued commitment to the health and wellbeing of our wider community.

Throughout the challenges of the last 18 months, you have been pillars of trust and strength in supporting our most vulnerable. This community spirit, and the respect and kindness that the Muslim community embodies, is an integral part of what has made Australia one of the most harmonious multicultural and multi-faith societies in the world.

For many Australians the COVID-19 pandemic continues to present challenges, altering the way we are able to celebrate and gather together as families and faith communities.

While restrictions may limit your ability to celebrate with others in person or attend services, I hope that you are able to continue drawing strength from your faith and family this Eid al-Adha.

I send my warm thanks for your understanding and efforts at this difficult time, and I encourage you to keep answering the call of sacrifice and staying COVID safe and getting vaccinated.

I have every confidence that these efforts will be rewarded as we continue on the path to recovery.

I wish you all a blessed and joyous festival.

Eid Mubarak!
