High Commissioner for Pakistan’s meeting with the Co-Conveners of the Friendship Group of Pakistan in Victoria’s Parliament

High Commissioner Babar Amin met with  the Co-Conveners of the Friendship Group of Pakistan in Victoria’s Parliament, Hon Bronwyn Halfpenny MLA, Hon Bruce Atkinson MLC and Hon Maria Vamvakinou MP, member Pakistan Friendship Group in the Parliament of Australia.

The High Commissioner stated that the presence of the Friendship Groups both at the State and Federal level was a testament to the friendly relations between Pakistan and Australia.  He said that they had proven a vehicle for strengthening people-to-people and parliament-to-parliament contacts. To further enhance the work of these Groups, High Commissioner suggested meetings with their counterparts in Pakistan’s legislative bodies.

Concurring with the High Commissioner, the MPs expressed a keen interest in the organization of activities to promote friendly ties between the two countries and engage with members of Pakistan community resident in Victoria. They extended their full support for such initiatives.
