High Commissioner Babar Amin deliberated upon technical and vocational education cooperation with Mr. Craig Robertson, CEO, of TAFE Australia
The High Commissioner for Pakistan H.E. Babar Amin met with Mr. Craig Robertson, CEO of TAFE Australia today. Mr. Ronald Jackson, Director Strategy & Tertiary Financing, TAFE Australia, Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai and First Secretary, Mr. Zain Ul Abidin also participated in the meeting. Technical and Further Education (TAFE) is a statutory vocational education and training provider in Australia.
2.Meeting was focused on exploring further avenues of cooperation between National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) of Pakistan and TAFE in vocational and technical training fields. Ona proposal by the High Commissioner, TAFE agreed to explore possibility of signing agreements for equivalence and articulation with Pakistani technical institutions to open pathways for Pakistani students to continueeducation in Australia.
3.Taking into consideration the COVID pandemic and resultant travel restrictions, TAFE agreed to initiate technical discussions with NAVTTC though virtual mode and consider delivering online lectures to the Pakistani students.
4.TAFE also agreed to sign an MoU with NAVTTC for cooperation in vocational and technical education fields. The MoU will provide legal framework and leverage for implementation of cooperation initiatives.
