Virtual Meeting between Health Authorities of Pakistan & Australia
The High Commission for Pakistan organized a virtual meeting between senior officials of Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination (NHSR&C) of Pakistanand the Australian Government Department of Health, and Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).
In the context of extraordinary challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, both sides discussed ways and means to enhance cooperation in this regard. They shared their national experiences in combating the pandemic and measures taken by the respective governments for the protection of people. Both countries explored collaboration avenues for development, production and testing of Covid-19 vaccine.
The Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination also expressed interest in further discussions about cooperation between the health authorities of Pakistan and Australia especially in formalizing institutional arrangementsbetween health authorities, public health services, women and child health, Regulatory requirements for export of health equipment and cooperation in the fields of health education and nursing.
The participants from Pakistani side included Dr. Malik Muhammad Safi, Director General Health, Ministry of National Health Services Regulation & Coordination, Dr. Aamer Ikram, Executive Director National Institute of Health (NIH), H.E. Babar Amin, the High Commissioner for Pakistan, and Mr. Zain ul Abidin, First Secretary, Pakistan High Commission.
